Coronavirus / Covid-19

Due to recent guidance the Practice have now moved to full telephone triage with URGENT ONLY for face to face consultations lead by the clinicians providing a limited service to reduce footfall.

The Practice are limiting the number of patients in the surgery at any one time, sitting at least two meters apart.

You may be asked to wait outside the building or in your car.

At the Reception desk please adhere to the chair barriers in place and stand two meters apart from the person in front of you in the queue.

Thank you for your assistance.

Important information about the coronavirus (COVID-19)

The NHS in the North East and Public Health England (PHE) are well prepared for outbreaks of new infectious diseases. The NHS has put in place measures to ensure the safety of all patients and NHS staff while also ensuring services are available to the public as normal.

The Chief Medical Officer has announced that the country is moving into the ‘Delay’ stage of the response to coronavirus from Friday, 13th March 2020.

The new advice issued by the Chief Medical Officer is as follows:

Stay at home for 7 days if you have either:

  • a high temperature
  • a new continuous cough
  •

Do not go to a GP surgery, pharmacy or hospital.

You do not need to contact 111 to tell them you're staying at home.

Use the NHS 111 online coronavirus service if:

  • you feel you cannot cope with your symptoms at home
  • your condition gets worse
  • your symptoms do not get better after 7 days
  •

Only call 111 if you cannot get help online.

Stay At Home advice can be found here

Everyone is being reminded to follow Public Health England advice to:

  • Always carry tissues with you and use them to catch your cough or sneeze. Then bin the tissue, and wash your hands, or use a sanitiser gel.
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water, especially after using public transport. Use a sanitiser gel if soap and water are not available.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands.
  • Avoid close contact with people who are unwell.

Tell us what you think about the care or treatment you have received from us

As you know over the last 2-3 years some long serving GPs have retired from the practice, this has coincided with a national shortage of GPs. The practice has developed the role of Nurse Practitioners who can see and treat minor illnesses and minor injuries. We were lucky to recruit two new female GPs in September 2018.

Our Clinical Commissioning Group - Durham, Dales, Easington and Sedgefield (DDES) have adopted 'Care navigation' across the whole of area, the practice clinicians have also developed a policy to help staff steer you to the most suitable clinician. The receptionists are NOT triaging you but may arrange an appointment for triage with a Nurse Practitioner or GP

When you contact the surgery, Please be aware that the receptionists are advised by the GPs to ask for a brief confidential description of your medical need to enable them to direct you to the most appropiate service, your help in assisting our receptionists is appreciated they are bound by very strict rules of confidentiality.

Thank you for helping the receptionist to help navigate you through the system.

Please click here to find out why the receptionist may ask you for a brief reason as to why you need to be seen
