Who should I see?

 

Nurse Practitioners can see a variety of problems including

  • Abdo pain/tummy pain
  • Abnormal periods
  • Acne
  • Asthma attack/exacerbation
  • Athlete's foot
  • Back ache/neck pain
  • Boils/skin abscess
  • Bowel problems
  • Breast lumps
  • Chest pain
  • Chickenpox/hand foot and mouth/slapped cheek
  • Cold/flu symptoms
  • Constipation
  • Contraception (Some Practice Nurses can also help)
  • COPD exacerbation
  • Cough/chesty/chest infection
  • Diarrhoea and vomiting
  • Dizziness/vertigo (In under 65 year olds)
  • Earache/infection
  • Eczema and dermatitis
  • Generally unwell
  • Heartburn
  • Indigestion
  • Infected fingers and toes
  • Knee/hip/shoulder pain
  • Loss of voice
  • Headaches
  • Minor injuries/cuts/sprains
  • Moles/skin lesions
  • Nosebleeds
  • Piles
  • Rashes
  • Shingles
  • Skin infections/impetigo/cellulitis
  • Sore throat/tonsillitis/painful mouth
  • Stomach problems
  • Swollen leg/?DVT
  • Temperature/fever/swollen glands
  • Thrush
  • Tired all the time/lack of energy
  • UTI/painful urination

 Please note not all Nurse Practitioners can see all of above depending on age of the patient so the receptionist will still need to ask for a brief description when booking to ensure you are booked with the correct clinician.

 

When should you see a GP?

  • Any pregnancy related issue
  • Anxiety
  • High Blood pressure
  • Mental health/depression (ongoing GP)
  • Problems already ongoing with a GP
  • Over 65 years old with dizziness
  • Review of medication (ongoing GP)
  • Sick notes (GP dealing with problems is on sick with)

 Dental problems need to be seen by a Dentist

 

If you are having any problems with your eye(s) please see Minor Eye Problems on the left hand side menu as it may be more appropriate for you to see an Optometrist.

Please note if you are coming for Diabetic bloods you will need to arrange an appointment and not the walk in blood clinic.
